After working as a Senior Director in New York at Polo Ralph Lauren, Samantha Sung worked as Design Director at Cerutti & Cerutti in Milan for three years before returning to New York as Design Director of Tocca.

In 2006, Samantha launched the eponymous label, which carries her signature print designs. The creative team at Samantha Sung oversees all aspects of production, form the choice of thread to the preparation of colors for hand block printing, resulting in high quality artistic products.

1996 - 1997
Parson’s School of Design - Designer & Illustrator (Instructor)

As an honored graduate, Samantha was invited to teach new Parson’s students. Teaching fashion illustration, how to design the clothes and how to present the concept, her students learned how to put down the ideas form their heads to their paper. As much as she loved to teach, a full day commitment teaching at school was just too much to spare for a fully occupied senior designer at Ralph Lauren, she had to resign from it after fulfilling one year.

Ralph Lauren - Purple Label Women’s Collection (Senior Designer)

Immediately following graduation, samantha sung was scouted and hired by Ralph Lauren and worked very close with Mr. Lauren in her responsibilities to originate the concepts ,designing the silhouette and following up through the realization of the final sketch all the way to the final garment. Her contribution to the collection was significant from the beginning and a promotion to senior designer occurred after only one year.
2001 - 2004
Cerutti - Women’s Collection & Cerruti 1881 Sports (Design Director)

While working in Ralph Lauren, Samantha met Dawn Mellow who was known for revamping the old gucci line by hiring Tom Ford. She brought her to an Italian company called “Fin Part Group” which owned many italian multi-brands, she was appointed to take a charge of the line of “Cerruti 1881” and the Cerruti Women’s Collection and worked for Creative Director, Istban Francer. Samantha lead the Paris headquarters Fashion Shows team. Challenged how to identify and position Cerruti’s classic look for the modern women her success was assured based on her experience and knowledge.
2004 - 2005
Piazza Sempione - Women’s Collection (Design Director)
Milan, Italy
Piazza Sempione was looking for its transition team when it was about to be bought by LVMH. Samantha’s experience was well suited for this small privately owned luxury brand merger with the renowned mega brand.
2005 - 2006
Tocca - Design Director
New York, USA
A new opportunity presented itself back in the stated and Samantha decided to return to america. To design contemporary line was totally new. She had been working in high-luxury top designer collections, but she found that the market demand for contemporary lines is both newer and stronger in America. With a commercial design ability turned out to be important and valuable to growing this market. Her eye on the movement of fashion in America, she recognized early that many high level career women don’t only go for extremely formal and expensive clothes. “She wants an easier price, a more casual look, yet still formal and elegant enough that they can wear it to the office and to dinner. she took the challenge in this new market and her designs at Tocca soared into the market.

Inspired by her successes and the challenge to succeed on her own sharing a unique vision and character directly with the fashion enthusiast, Samantha left Tocca to start her own collection. Formally trained and business-minded Samntha structured her business as a vertically tiered enterprise to capture her work in studio to the best of village artisans in remote areas and modern, environmentally sensitive manufacturing.
