Heart Manor: An English Story Translated into a Print

Inspired by the V&A and the wallpapers of the English countryside

W hen you visit the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, you see this kind of pattern everywhere. There are many variations of it, but I call this one Heart Manor. It is something you see when you visit the manors of the English countryside. The wallpapers, the textiles, the quiet rooms — there is a feeling that lives in them. Heart Manor is named, with a small wink, after a celebrated British artist. I hope they do not mind that I borrowed a piece of their name. It felt right for the print. You can feel the difference from the Italian feeling. The Italian feels dramatic, full of coast and beach light. Heart Manor is something else entirely. It is the English air.

Quick Answer

What is the Heart Manor print?

  • An English-inspired pattern drawn from the Victoria and Albert Museum and the wallpapers of British country manors.
  • Named with a small wink after a celebrated British artist whose work is part of the English aristocratic tradition.
  • Available across our signature silhouettes — Audrey, Aster, Eva, Eden, Patricia, Florance, Sabrina, and Terry.
  • Four colorways — White, Indigo, Soft Aqua, and Black — in cotton musola, cotton stretch, silk GGT, and polyamide taffeta.

Inspired by the V&A

When you visit the Victoria and Albert Museum, you see this kind of pattern everywhere. There are many variations of it. Heart Manor is my variation. It draws from the wallpapers and textiles you find inside the manors of the English countryside — the quiet rooms, the classical air, the sense of a long history settling on the walls.

"It is something you see when you visit the manors of the English countryside."

Named for a British Artist

Heart Manor is named, with a small wink, after a celebrated British artist whose name belongs to the English cultural canon. I hope they do not mind that I borrowed a piece of it. The pattern is not from any particular painting, but it carries the same air — classical, aristocratic, unmistakably English.

An English Air, Distinct from the Italian

You can feel the difference from the Italian feeling. The Italian feels dramatic — full of coast and beach light, full of movement. Heart Manor is something else entirely. It is interior. It is restrained. It is the English air. I like to create a different air for each print. An Italian look. An English look. An African look. A Japanese look. Each one carries its own quiet.

"Each country gives a different air. Heart Manor gives the English one."

Heritage as the Root, Modernity as the Hand

I usually find my inspirations from countries, because I love the traditional prints. I do not lean toward the modern. We make it modern in our own way, but the roots always come from the heritage of a certain country or a certain culture. That is how we create our prints. There is always a historical ground. I appreciate that old history.

A Silhouette That Has Lasted Two Hundred Years

Time changes. But what makes a woman beautiful — that has not changed. The silhouette is the same as it was two hundred years ago. Women have always wanted to accentuate the bust and the waist. Tight on top, fluid at the bottom. That kind of silhouette has been developed for over a hundred years. It is the favorite silhouette on a woman's body.

"A pattern that remembers an English manor. A silhouette that remembers two hundred years of women."

Designer's Notes

What inspired the Heart Manor print?

The pattern draws from the Victoria and Albert Museum and the wallpapers and textiles you find inside English country manors. It is the classical English air, translated into a print for dressmaking.

Why the name "Heart Manor"?

The name is a small wink toward a celebrated British artist whose name belongs to the English cultural tradition. The print does not come from a specific painting, but it carries that same classical, aristocratic English air.

How does Heart Manor differ from the Italian-inspired prints?

The Italian feeling is dramatic — full of coast, beach, and bright light. Heart Manor is restrained, interior, and quietly classical. Each print is designed to carry the air of the country that inspired it.

Which silhouettes is Heart Manor available in?

Heart Manor is engineered across our signature silhouettes — Audrey (in three cuts), Aster, Eva, Eden, Patricia, Florance, Sabrina, and Terry. Each silhouette receives the print in a placement designed for that particular cut.

What colorways are available?

Four colorways — White, Indigo, Soft Aqua, and Black. Each carries a different mood while keeping the English air at the center.

What fabrics is Heart Manor printed on?

Heart Manor appears on cotton musola, cotton stretch, silk GGT, and polyamide taffeta. The fabric is matched to the silhouette — each combination is chosen so the print sits the way it should.

Why do Samantha Sung silhouettes feel so timeless?

Because they are. The silhouette — tight on top, fluid at the bottom, accentuating the bust and waist — has been the favorite silhouette on a woman's body for over two hundred years. We continue to design within that historical essence.

Does Samantha design every print herself?

Yes. Each print begins with Samantha's research and inspiration — a country, a culture, a piece of history. The roots are always heritage. The hand that brings them to a modern dress is hers.

Yours, with English air,

Samantha
