The Darby Rose Collection

A painting, a memory, a dress.

“It’s not just fabric—it’s a painting you can wear.” – Samantha

This collection began quietly, in Lake Como.

During a visit to a small artist’s studio

Samantha was invited to explore a drawer of older works. Inside was a painting—oil and crayon layered together—soft, timeworn, and almost forgotten. The artist worried it was too damaged to matter. Samantha felt the opposite.

Samantha took the painting home

and hung it on her apartment wall. She lived with it, studied its texture, its story, its softness. And then, she began the work of translating it into a garment.

But for Samantha, developing the print is never just about duplication. It’s about feeling.

It took over year of thoughtful experimentation to bring this print to life.

It took over six months of thoughtful experimentation to bring this print to life. Different methods were explored, but it was only through traditional hand printing on Ramie—a breathable natural fiber—that the emotional tone of the original artwork was truly captured.

Ramie’s subtle pleating and ability to hold imperfect edges made it the perfect canvas. The outlines faded just enough. The colors softened just right. The dress began to breathe like the painting.

The result is Darby Rose—a print that feels like a memory, like a rose pressed between the pages of time.
