Como Lake Garden
A Journey Along the Italian Coast
By Samantha Sung
C omo Lake Garden began with a feeling I have every time I travel through Italy. Walking through Tuscany. Watching artists paint outdoors. The brushstrokes of one artist felt like water moving across cloth. The waves, the leaves, the changing light, all became part of the artwork. That feeling became this print. Available in two colorways, Garden White and Garden Pastel, across four signature silhouettes. The Aster. The Audrey. The Eden. The Laurent. Made in Cotton Musola and Cotton Stretch in Bali. Sizes XXS through XXXXL.

A Print That Began With a Feeling
There are some prints that begin with a sketch.
And there are others that begin with a feeling.
Como Lake Garden began with a feeling I have every time I travel through Italy.
When people think of Italy, they often think of the cities. But for me, some of the most beautiful moments happen along the coast, between Tuscany, Cinque Terre, and Sardinia. The colors are different there. The light is different. Everything feels softer, more relaxed, and more connected to nature.
I remember walking through Tuscany and seeing artists painting outdoors. They were capturing the movement of the landscape around them, the sea, the mountains, the trees, and the changing colors of the day.
One artist especially stayed with me. His paintings seemed to move like water. The brushstrokes felt effortless, as though the waves, the wind, and the leaves had all become part of the artwork. I found myself looking at the colors around me in a different way.
The blue of the sea.
The green of the mountains.
The leaves falling from the trees.
The sunlight reflecting across the water.
These became the inspiration for Como Lake Garden.
The Journey, Woven Into the Print
When I designed this print, I wanted to capture the feeling of traveling along the Italian coast by boat. There is something magical about moving from one small town to another, watching the landscape change as you sail along the shoreline.
You leave the colorful villages of Cinque Terre.
You pass the rolling green hills of Tuscany.
You continue toward the beautiful coastline of Sardinia.
Every hour brings a new view, a new color, a new memory.
That journey is woven into this print. The flowing brushstrokes represent the movement of water. The greens remind me of the mountains and trees that surround the coastline. The soft layers of color reflect the changing light throughout the day.
Several Colorways, Several Stories
I always create several colorways because each one tells a slightly different story.
Yellow
Sunlight dancing on the water.
Blue
The sea and the sky.
Pink
The warmth of the late afternoon light.
Each version begins with the same inspiration but creates a different mood.
Italian Style, in the Pleasure of the Experience
What I love most about Como Lake Garden is that it feels effortless. I imagine wearing it on a boat with friends, enjoying a quiet afternoon on the water. Later, perhaps stopping at a small coastal village for a cocktail before dinner. It is elegant without feeling formal. Relaxed without losing its sophistication.
For me, this is what Italian style has always been about.
Not dressing for attention.
Dressing for the pleasure of the experience.
The pleasure of travel. The pleasure of beautiful surroundings. The pleasure of feeling comfortable and confident wherever the day takes you.

And perhaps, when you wear it, it will take you there too.
Designer's Notes
What inspired the Como Lake Garden print?
A boat journey along the Italian coast, from Tuscany through Cinque Terre to Sardinia. The print captures the brushstrokes Samantha saw in the work of an artist painting outdoors in Tuscany, where the waves, the wind, and the leaves all seemed to become part of the artwork.
What is the difference between Garden White and Garden Pastel?
Garden White uses pure white grounds with bright botanical accents in yellow, blue, cobalt, coral, and aqua. Reads like a summer morning. Garden Pastel uses soft aqua grounds with pastel accents in indigo, lilac, pink, and coral. Reads like the late afternoon, softer and more atmospheric.
Which silhouettes is Como Lake Garden available in?
Four signature silhouettes. The Aster (fitted bodice with full skirt), the Audrey (softly defined waist), the Eden (crew neck maxi), and the Laurent (long, structured). Across the two colorways, fourteen total products span midi, midi plus, maxi, and long lengths.
What fabrics are used?
Cotton Musola for the lightweight midi and maxi dresses, Cotton Stretch for the everyday styles, and Polyamide Taffeta for the most dressed of the Audrey #1 silhouettes.
What sizes are available?
XXS through XXXXL across the Aster and Audrey lengths. Other silhouettes carry XXS through XXXL.
